China Railway Construction to open Mozambique office

China Railway Construction Corp Ltd agreed this week in a board meeting to set up a representative office in Mozambique. The state-owned construction firm gave the news in a filing to the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

The office will expand the market for China’s involvement in public works projects in Mozambique, including for railways, roads, housing and ports, the filing said. The representative office would also be in charge of gathering all relevant information about business, laws and policies in the African nation, the company added.

The Chinese firm also approved during the meeting the setting up of a representative office in Congo, the filing noted.

China Railway Construction has completed several projects in Africa countries, including a US$1.83-billion railway of approximately 1,344 kilometres in Angola’s Benguela province.
