A total of 386 students from various countries and territories are taking part in the latest edition of the University of Macau’s Portuguese Language and Culture Summer Programme, the newspaper Jornal Tribuna de Macau reported this week.
This year marks the 30th edition of the annual programme. It started on Monday and will last until August 5, the media outlet said.
According to the newspaper, this year’s edition has attracted students from 11 countries and territories, namely Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Singapore, East Timor, Australia, the United States, the United Kingdom, South Korea and India.
The programme includes classes on the Portuguese language, as well as activities related to Portuguese culture, the report said. Topics relating to Macau’s history, as well as practical activities including singing, fitness and traditional Portuguese dancing, are also part of the summer scheme. Students will additionally take part in field trips in Macau and attend talks on the European Union, the newspaper added.
