Inflow of private investment to Angola totalled US$40 million so far this year – mainly via construction projects – said Bernarda Martins, the Industry Minister, in comments on Wednesday.

She revealed the figure when attending a signing ceremony for contracts relating to eight private investment projects worth US$19.3 million, Portuguese news agency Lusa reported.

One project involved a US$1-million investment from China to set up a clothing factory in the African nation, the report added.

The aggregate of US$40 million invested since January involved 13 projects by both local and foreign investors, she said. Investors targeted the textile and chemical industries as well as the construction sector, she added.

Ms Martins further stated that an additional group of investment projects — worth an additional US$40 million — were still under review.
