China will continue supporting in 2016 the Government of Guinea-Bissau in its fight against poverty and hunger, China’s Ambassador to Guinea-Bissau Wang Hua said last week, according to online news portal Macauhub.
Mr Wang met on Friday with Guinea-Bissau’s Prime Minister, Carlos Correia, in the African country’s capital, Bissau. During the meeting, the two sides discussed measures to enhance bilateral co-operation, stated the Chinese Ambassador.
According to the Chinese diplomat, China will start developing energy and fishing projects in Guinea-Bissau still during the first quarter of 2016, Macauhub reported.
The Governor of the African country’s Biombo region, Humberto Có, last week announced that Chinese company Fujian Shihai Corporation was planning to invest US$300 million to develop a fishing complex and a five-star hotel in Suru, in the region’s Prabis area. The Chinese firm said construction work would start soon, Mr Có added.
