The first of the 18 metro vehicles manufactured by the Chinese company CRRC Tangshan was delivered to Porto Metro of Portugal on the 11th of February. The vehicle is on display at the Trindade Metro Station, in the center of Porto, from the 11th to the 14th of February. The first vehicle will start its service in May, after several tests.

The vehicle meets passengers’ expectations for high quality and more security to ensure that more people are using public transport, said the Portuguese Minister for Environment and Climate Action, Duarte Cordeiro.

Portugal is the first country in the European Union to buy metro carriages made in China. Tan Mu, general manager of CRRC Tangshan, said the metro vehicle adopts digital technology and has the characteristics of lightweight, low energy consumption and more digital intelligence, in line with European standards.
