Foz do Iguaçu, in southern Brazil, has declared the Chinese New Year as the city’s official festival. The mayor of the city, Chico Brasileiro, signed a law on the 25th of February that included the Chinese New Year in the calendar of festivities in the locality, where the famous Iguaçu Falls are located, a set of 275 falls that are a natural heritage of humanity.

According to information released on the Foz do Iguaçu City Council website, the city began celebrating the Spring Festival in 2019. Since then, celebrations have been held annually.
