Mozambican Prime Minister, Carlos Agostinho do Rosário, said on Tuesday that the country needs more investment in the tourism industry, reported local daily newspaper Notícias. Only then can Mozambique become a reference point in the international tourism market, he added.
Speaking at the IV National Meeting on Tourism, Mr Rosário said the country’s tourism sector requires investment at national level and needs to maximise the existing promotion platforms such as the country’s trade fair “Discover Mozambique”.
The official said Mozambique has to encourage the development of domestic tourism as a way to create jobs and sustain growth, thus minimising the seasonal volatility of international tourism.
Mr Rosário additionally said the country would develop an integrated promotion plan for several areas of Mozambique with tourism potential. The aim is to attract domestic and foreign investment and in particular to expand the number of hotel rooms in the country and to increase the quality of service, he added.
