The Chinese shipyard Cosco Shipping Heavy Industry has started construction of the hull of FPSO P-82, a floating production, storage and offloading vessel, destined for the Búzios oilfield operated by Petrobras in Brazil. The hull is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2024, under a subcontract with Sembcorp Marine of Singapore.
Considered the largest FPSO in the world, FPSO P-82 will have a production capacity of 225 thousand barrels of oil per day and 12 million cubic meters of natural gas per day . It will also have a storage capacity of 1.6 million barrels of crude oil. The vessel will be equipped with low-carbon technologies and will start operating in 2026.
Petrobras holds a 92.6% stake in the Búzios field. In addition, it has a partnership of China National Offshore Oil Corporation and China Oil & Gas Exploration & Development Company, each with a 3.7% stake.
