The number of Portuguese language courses, students and teachers in Macao has grown since 2020, despite the restrictions and impact caused by the covid-19 pandemic, according to data from the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) sent to Lusa.
“The number of classes of Portuguese language courses, in the regular curricula, extracurricular activities or complementary activities, provided by schools, increased from 445 in the 2020/2021 school year, to 467 in the 2022/2023 school year,” it highlighted. The services also indicated that in the same period, the number of students attending Portuguese courses rose from about 9,300 to 10,200. The number of teachers has also increased from 100 to more than 120.
Moreover, from the academic years 2020/2021 to 2021/2022, in each academic year, about 200 students on average traveled to Portugal to attend higher education courses.
