China and Mozambique have signed a new three-year general co-operation agreement. It includes partnerships in economic, technical and commercial matters.
The new bilateral pact was sealed on Friday, in Maputo, during the 5th Session of the Joint Commission for Economic, Technical and Commercial Cooperation between Mozambique and China.
“We are interested in having China continue to occupy one of the top places in terms of economic relations with Mozambique, through projects that may bring mutual benefits to both peoples”, stated Nyeleti Mondlane, Mozambican Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
Ms Mondlane said that during the two-day meeting, the joint committee evaluated 11 projects. These would be implemented according to the State Budget and the two countries’ priorities, she added.
China’s Vice Minister of Commerce, Gao Yan, highlighted the importance of the co-operation between China and Mozambique and said it would boost economic development in both countries.
Portuguese news agency Lusa additionally mentioned the signing of two deals regarding the television sector and professional training in agriculture. But it said no details were revealed regarding any of the projects included in the new general agreement.
