Chinese aircraft, the Harbin Y-12F recently received the Type Certificate from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). This is the second major aviation hub outside China where the aircraft has been approved to fly. Seven years ago, the model was approved by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The Y-12F is the latest variant of the plane from Harbin Aircraft, one of the divisions of state-owned AVIC Group and Embraer’s former partner in China.

The Y-12’s next stop will be Brazil. “AVIC directors are very interested in Brazil and the market here is ideal for the application of the Y-12,” said Jorge Theodoro, director of JCranes, the Brazilian company representing Harbin Aircraft.

Theodoro anticipated that JCranes will accompany professionals from the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) on a trip to China in August to work on the Brazilian certification of the Y-12. “We hope that the plane should be approved to fly in Brazil by September,” he said.
