China and Mozambique should strengthen co-operation across different fields, said the Chinese Ambassador to the African nation, Li Chunhua.
His remarks came after a meeting last week with Mozambican Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário, the Chinese Embassy said in a statement.
“The two nations have started practical co-operation in many fields in recent years while a growing number of Chinese enterprises invested in Mozambique,” Mr Li was quoted saying. “[We should] work together to further promote bilateral co-operation,” he added.
Mr Rosário was quoted saying he wishes to “enhance the personnel exchange” in several areas between the two countries. He added that Mozambique wants to attract more investment from China.
Data from China Customs show that the trade between the two nations in the first two months of January surged by 60.59 percent year-on-year to US$440 million.
