Preparatory meetings for the upcoming China-Brazil High-Level Coordination and Cooperation Committee session were held last week in Brasilia. The goal was also to strengthen bilateral ties, China’s Ministry of Commerce said in a statement.

Zhang Xiangchen, China’s Assistant Minister of Commerce, led a delegation to visit the Brazilian capital on April 23 and 24. The group met with Brazilian officials led by Brazil’s Deputy Minister of External Affairs José Alfredo Graça Lima.

The two sides talked about how to promote further co-operation in trade, education, agriculture, culture, aviation and quality inspection, the ministry stated.

The delegations also held discussions on the Joint Action Plan between China and Brazil, up for renewal this year, and preparation works for the fourth session of the China-Brazil High-Level Coordination and Cooperation Committee.

The China-Brazil High-level Coordination and Cooperation Committee was set up in 2004 as mechanism between senior Chinese and Brazilian government officials.
