The gross domestic product (GDP) of Cape Verde increased by 2.7 percent in 2014, according to preliminary data from the country’s National Institute of Statistics.
That represents a “strong” result following a 1.0 percent increase in 2013, said António Duarte, the head of the National Institute for Statistics.
The growth was triggered by positive performances in fishing, construction, telecommunications and business services, stated a note from the Institute.
Cape Verde’s GDP is expected to grow at 3.0 percent in 2015 and 4.0 percent in 2016, according to the latest estimates by the International Monetary Fund (IMF), released earlier this month.
