A delegation of the Portuguese Parliament, led by Sérgio Sousa Pinto, who heads the Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, starts on Saturday a four-day visit to China, Portuguese news agency Lusa reported.

Representatives from the four largest parties in the Parliament will join the delegation. The group will visit Beijing and Tianjin, according to the report.

Before the visit, Mr Pinto met with the Chinese Ambassador to Portugal, Huang Songfu, on April 7, the Chinese Embassy said in a statement.

Mr Pinto was quoted saying that he hoped the visit could “strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two nations” and “facilitate mutual understanding”.

Mr Huang stated that Portugal and China “are deepening cooperation” as this year marked the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
