Professionals from the health and traditional medicine sectors from several Portuguese-speaking Countries – namely Angola, Brazil, Mozambique and Portugal – on July 1 paid a visit to the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao). The aim was to boost exchanges in the health sector, particularly in the field of traditional medicine, as well as to deepen regional economic co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, using Macao as a platform.
The professionals visited Macao to take part in the “International Traditional Medicine Co-operation Forum 2015 – Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao”, held on June 30.
Several representatives from the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao took part in the meeting, held at the headquarters of Forum Macao. Those present included: the Deputy Secretary-General (appointed by the Macao SAR Government) of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Ms Echo Chan; the Representative of Angola, Mr Belarmino Barbosa; the Representative of Guinea Bissau, Mr Malam Becker Camará; the Representative of Mozambique, Ms Francisca Reino; the Representative of East Timor, Mr Danilo Henriques; and the Advisor of the Executive Office Mr Zheng Jiangsheng.
In 2012, the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao held the “Traditional Chinese Medicine Development in Portuguese-speaking Countries Conference”, aimed at promoting co-operation in the field of health, following the Action Plan for Economic and Trade Co-operation, signed in Forum Macau’s Ministerial Conference. The event acted as an exchange and co-operation platform for participants from Portuguese-speaking Countries, to introduce them to the success stories from Mainland China and Macao in the field of traditional medicine. The conference also contributed to promoting co-operation between Portuguese-speaking Countries’ respective traditional medicine sectors and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Science and Technology Industrial Park of Co-operation between Guangdong and Macao.
