Secretary-General Ji Xianzheng participated as one of the officiating guests at the opening ceremony of the 2023 “Let’s Hang Out – Lusophone and Macao Products Bazaar”, which was held at 5pm on 10 March at the Hengqin Ponto Legend Square. For the first time, the “Let’s Hang Out” event has “gone beyond” Macao and made its debut in Hengqin, promoting trade exchange between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries through multiple channels and diverse ways, and boosting the integrated development of Macao and Hengqin. Nearly 30 SMEs from Macao and Hengqin participated in the event, showcasing a wide range of typical products as well as cultural and creative products from Portuguese-speaking Countries and Macao. Concurrently, sessions such as e-commerce livestreaming were introduced to interactively present the image of the products, enhance product exposure and help to create business opportunities.
During their visit to Hengqin, the delegation also visited key enterprises and learnt about major projects of the In-Depth Cooperation Zone, including the Center for Science and Technology Exchanges and Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, Smarcle (Zhuhai) Inc., ImStem Biotechnology Inc., Nanometals Technology Co., Ltd., and Serensia Woods. Through the series of economic and trade activities, the representatives from Portuguese-speaking Countries of the Permanent Secretariat have gained a better understanding of the business environment in the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. At the same time, they also made presentations to enterprises in the mainland, especially those in the In-Depth Cooperation Zone, regarding the Macao platform and the investment environment of Portuguese-speaking Countries. In the future, the Permanent Secretariat will take into account Macao’s “1+4” appropriate diversification development strategy and implement the relevant initiatives of the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting, as well as foster Portuguese-speaking Countries to utilize Macao as a platform to expand economic and trade ties with the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
