12th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries: Online Music and Dance Performances Display Cultural Diversity

The 12th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, organised by the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese Speaking Countries (Macao), will feature online music and dance performances from artists, bands and groups from China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, allowing members of the public from all over the world to experience the diversity of Sino and Lusophone culture in a variety of ways.


Art groups from Shandong (China) and from the Portuguese-speaking Countries will display their performances online, showcasing the different characteristics of music and dance in their respective cultures. The music and dance artists include: Tunjila Tuajokota, a group from Angola that will present its original music based on the Diémbe artistic tradition; Roberta Sá from Brazil, a singer and ukulele player; and the band Bulimundo from Cabo Verde, adding electric guitar and saxophone to give a new flavour to traditional Funaná music.


In addition, the Opera Luju theatre group from the municipality of Jinan in Shandong Province, Mainland China, will perform excerpts from classic traditional Chinese operas. The group MC-2 from Guinea-Bissau will play classical guitar and 12-string guitar.


AZ Khinera from Mozambique, will release new songs in collaboration with renowned local producers; and Virgem Suta, a band from Portugal, will showcase its soft lyrical singing style. Last but not least, comes the passionate musical performance of São Toméan singer Kalú Mendes; as well as performance by All About Life, a group from Timor-Leste.
