Brazil’s Ministry of Mining and Energy announced on Monday it would auction solar power plant electricity agreements on August 14.
Solar project developers will compete for 20-year contracts. They will entitle the winners to sell such power starting in August 2017, the ministry said in Brazil’s official gazette.
Developers are expected to bid down the price at which they are willing to deliver electricity, in an effort to win contracts.
Interested parties must register their projects with the Brazilian authorities by April 14.
