Guinea-Bissau’s Government wants to reduce the country’s dependence on foreign aid.

Economy and Finance Minister Geraldo Martins said on Wednesday that the country was currently already able to generate 63 billion CFA francs (US$102 million) internally to fund its annual budget of 148 billion CFA francs.

Mr Martins added that the Government’s goal is to generate domestically 81 billion CFA Francs next year and hit 100 billion CFA francs in 2017.

To achieve this, he urged the international community to fund projects that can help grow the country’s economy and generate jobs, namely in infrastructure, agriculture, urban development, human development and biodiversity.
