Mozambique’s new Government has set the economic growth target for the country in 2015 at 7.5 percent, reported Mozambican news agency AIM.
That is below the official goal set for 2014, which stood at 7.7 percent.
The Government also wants to keep inflation in check, forecasting an inflation rate of around 5.1 percent for full-year 2015.
The new cabinet plans to submit the national budget for 2015 to the parliament later this month. The document will include measures to generate more job opportunities and promote environment protection, a government spokesperson said, quoted by AIM.
The new government, led by Prime Minister Carlos do Rosário, took office in January.
Earlier this year, Mozambique’s central bank forecast the country would achieve economic growth of 7.7 percent in 2015, with inflation of 5.5 percent.
Mozambique’s economy posted growth of 7.2 percent in 2014, according to a January estimate from the World Bank.
