Brazil recorded a trade deficit of US$2.8 billion in February, reported Brazilian news agency Agência Brasil, quoting official data.
Brazilian exports amounted to US$12.1 billion in February, while imports hit US$14.9 billion.
Agência Brasil pointed out this was the biggest deficit recorded for February since record keeping began in the current form in 1980.
The country posted an aggregate trade deficit of US$6.0 billion during the first two months of 2015. Exports for the January-February period stood at US$25.8 billion, while imports were US$31.8 billion.
China remains Brazil’s main trade partner. Bilateral trade hit US$9.4 billion in the first two months of 2015.
