Brazilian coffee exports are set to take an even bigger leap forward in 2025. The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), in partnership with the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC), has reached a new agreement with the Chinese coffee chain Luckin Coffee for the purchase of 240,000 tons of the bean from Brazil between 2025 and 2029 at an estimated value of US$ 2.5 billion. The previous commitment, for US$500 million for the purchase of 120,000 tons, was signed during a Brazilian mission to the country.

The signing of the memorandum of understanding was attended by the vice-president and minister of the MDIC, Geraldo Alckmin, the president of ApexBrasil, Jorge Viana, and the CEO of Luckin Coffee, Jinyi Guo.

The president of ApexBrasil, Jorge Viana, stressed that he expected the partnership to continue. “This is a very big purchase for those who produce coffee in Brazil. It's just the start of a very important commercial partnership. It's Mr. Guo's first visit to the country, but it won't be his last.”
