On October 11, the governor of Piauí, Rafael Fonteles, and his entourage, including 80 businessmen from Piauí, landed in Hong Kong, China. The governor began his international visit to Asia by discussing tourism at a meeting with the Macau Government's Tourism Bureau (MGTO).

During a meeting with the director of the MGTO, Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes, Rafael Fonteles learned about Macau's tourism development and explored the possibility of partnerships.

The governor of Piauí said that China is Piauí's and Brazil's biggest trading partner and that they want to deepen this relationship, both in terms of exports and imports, while seeking new opportunities about investment and commercial partnerships for the development of the state.
