China and Brazil announced an experimental project. According to Chinese state media on July 10, China's State Administration for Market Regulation met with Brazilian entities to explore strategies that guarantee greater transparency in the beef supply chain. One of the objectives is to establish a cross-border tracking platform.

The need for a unified global system was widely recognized by participating countries, aiming to improve traceability and combat counterfeiting in the beef industry. Specific details about the schedule were not disclosed in the report.

In 2023, China imported 2.74 million tons of beef, with more than 40% coming from South American producers, according to Chinese customs data.
