Fifty officers from the Foreign Migration Service (SME) and an equal number of members from the Angolan Bar Association (OAA) began on March 5, in Luanda, a year-long training in the Mandarin language to be taught at the Confúcios Institute belonging to the Agostinho Neto University.
At the opening ceremony of the course, which took place at the premises of the Angola-China Chamber of Commerce (CAC), the president of this institution, Luís Cupenala, highlighted the importance of learning Mandarin to the staff of bodies as they deal daily with the Chinese community in the country, as well as facilitating effective communication with the international market.
For his part, the rector of the Agostinho Neto University, Pedro Magalhães, stated that the creation of the Confucius Institute at the institution he directs resulted from the agreement with the Confucius Institute in Beijing in 2014, which aims to offer opportunities to Angolan students to learn and get to know the Chinese language and culture, as well as promote mutual friendship between the two peoples.
