The president of Brazil's National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), Júlio César Moreira, and the commissioner of China's National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), Shen Changyu, met on 11 October in Beijing to discuss IP cooperation between the two institutions.

During the meeting, current actions and future prospects of the two institutions were discussed, as well as cooperation between the parties on IP, including within the BRICS framework. Another topic discussed was the Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) pilot project between the two countries. In this project, the INPI has received 295 PPH applications from China since 2017.

On the same day, two other meetings were held: with CNIPA's Information Technology department, in which experiences were exchanged about systems, staff and infrastructure; and with Brazil's ambassador to China, Marcos Bezerra Abbott Galvão.
