Bank of Mozambique Governor Ernesto Gove has been awarded ‘Central Banker of the Year 2015’ for the Africa region.

The London-based and Financial Times-owned magazine The Banker announced the awards last week.

It also named central bank governors from the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia-Pacific regions who were also awarded for their contributions.

The Banker, first published in 1926, is considered one of the world’s premier banking and finance resources, read in more than 180 countries.

On its website, it said that, as Mozambique “tools up to become a major exporter of coal and natural gas, the Bank of Mozambique under governor Ernesto Gove, has been keeping inflation well under control while building foreign exchange reserves.”
