The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) says a party of 20 people from Macau attended an event held in Tokyo this week to promote the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

IPIM issued a written statement saying the acting president of the institute, Irene Va Kuan Lau, led the party, who were among 1,000 or more people that attended.

IPIM says the Macau party advertised their city as a place for doing business with the Portuguese-speaking world.

The statement says the authorities in Macao, Hong Kong and the neighbouring southern Chinese province of Guangdong jointly arranged the event to advertise opportunities arising from the economic development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The event held on Tuesday included forums on intelligent healthcare and on novel technology, at which Macau Science and Technology Development Fund Chairman Ma Chi Ngai made a presentation, according to the IPIM statement.
