The Secretary for International Affairs of Brazil’s Ministry of Planning, Development and Management, Mr Jorge Arbache, visited on June 8 the office of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), also known as Forum Macao. Brazil’s Representative in Forum Macao, Mr Rafael Rodrigues Paulino, accompanied Mr Arbache.
The Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat, Ms Xu Yingzhen, welcomed Mr Arbache, as did Deputy Secretary-General Mr Rodrigo Brum, and Deputy Secretary-General Ms Glória Batalha Ung.
In greeting Mr Arbache, Ms Xu gave a brief presentation on the activities carried out by the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, namely in relation to trade and investment promotion, education and culture. She highlighted Macao’s role as a platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, especially in terms of culture and the Portuguese language.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged opinions regarding promoting further investment in infrastructure projects, support for small and medium-sized enterprises, and for greater cooperation between provinces and municipalities, as well as for strengthening academic exchanges and cultural ties.
