A party of nearly 40 Cabo Verdean businesspeople and officials is attending the three-day Macao International Trade and Investment Fair, known as MIF, and the simultaneous Portuguese-Speaking Countries Products and Services Exhibition (Macao), called PLPEX, which both opened today, the Macao Daily News reports.

The Chinese-language newspaper quotes the head of the Cabo Verdean trade and investment authority, Ana Lima Barber, as saying the party will promote products made in the African country.

Ms Barber said Cabo Verde TradeInvest was hoping for greater economic engagement with China and Macao, including more Chinese investment in her country.

The report says the pavilion at MIF where Cabo Verde’s convention and tourism industries, and investment environment and policies are touted covers 180 square metres.

At PLPEX, eight institutions in the private or public sectors in Cabo Verde are showing off Cabo Verdean clothes, food and other agricultural products, and advertising Cabo Verdean tourist attractions, the Macao Daily News says.
