Guangxi Associations General Federation of Macau chairman Chui Ka Wing believes there is potential for the Portuguese-speaking world, Macau and the southern Chinese region of Guangxi to do business through the Guangxi Pilot Free Trade Zone established in August.

The Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCILC) put out a written statement quoting Mr Chui as saying so on the occasion of a seminar in Macao on economic engagement between Guangxi and the lusophone world, organised by CCLILC and the Guangxi Federation.

The statement quotes the deputy director-general of Guangxi’s Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, Song Haijun, as extolling the development of the Beihai-Macau Portuguese-speaking Countries Industrial Park in Guangxi.

CCILC president João Marques da Cruz expressed optimism about Sino-Portuguese economic engagement in view of China being the biggest Asian buyer of Portuguese merchandise, the statement issued by the chamber says.
