An association of Brazilian exporters of beef, Abiec, expects the Chinese authorities to give permission for more Brazilian slaughterhouses to ship beef to China, Bloomberg reports.

The news agency quotes Abiec president Antônio Camardelli as saying requests for permission will be sent to China soon, along with the necessary documentation.

Mr Camardelli said Brazil should keep up its exports of beef to China to meet strong demand, rising income, and diet habit changes there.

Brazil shipped 65,827 tonnes of beef to China last month, the most in any month yet and 62 percent more than the month before, when permission was given for 17 Brazilian slaughterhouses to export beef to China, Bloomberg says.
