State-run China National Electronics Import and Export Corp. (CEIEC) is supplying the Angolan police with technology to keep tabs on criminals, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency quotes the Angolan Interior Ministry as saying in a written statement that a party of officials visited the offices of CEIEC yesterday to check on the progress the company is making in setting up the Public Security Integrated Centre.

The report quotes Angolan Interior Minister Eugénio Laborinho as saying the centre will be equipped to allow the police to keep an eye on crime hot spots in Luanda and nearby provinces, taking feeds from over 700 surveillance cameras in Luanda alone.

The centre will open next month, Lusa quotes Mr Laborinho as saying.
