A Cape Verdean delegation will go to China in the first quarter of this year to sign an agreement on Chinese investment in the São Vicente Special Maritime Economic Zone, says A Nação reports.
The Cape Verdean newspaper quotes Cape Verdean Economy Minister José da Silva Gonçalves as saying that Sun Liang, Chairman of state-owned company Shandong Hi-Speed Group Co. Ltd has said “huge interest” in the zone.
A Chinese delegation is expected to visit Cape Verde in the first quarter to help in planning the zone, which surrounds the island of São Vicente, A Nação quotes Mr Gonçalves as saying.
The newly-appointed Minister was speaking after meetings with a visiting Chinese business delegation, which, according to a Cape Verde Government press release, also expressed interest in investing in tourism at the Maio island.
