Chinese state-owned company RSI Su Lda is spending US$1 million on building 200 fish tanks for raising tilapia in the northwestern Angolan town of Barra, Angop reports.
The Angolan news agency quotes RSI Su spokesman Pedro Panzo as saying work on the tanks is 85 percent complete.
Mr Panzo said that, once built, the fish farm would employ 40 people, and that he expected it to be expanded in due course and employ another 40.
He said the operator had brought in sufficient feed to start production, but that later it would obtain its feed locally.
The fish produced will be sold in the surrounding province and beyond, Angop says.
