Chinese companies operating in Brazil must better understand the law if want to succeed, Xinhua reports.

The Chinese government-run news agency quotes the director of the Getúlio Vargas Foundation Centre for Chinese Studies, Evandro Carvalho, who made the comments at a seminar in Rio de Janeiro.

“Problems often occur in international business due to insufficient knowledge of local laws and business structures,” the agency quotes Mr Carvalho as saying.

“Chinese corporations in Brazil, in order to operate more efficiently, must learn to cooperate with local ones, as they have different management methods.”

Mr Carvalho added that Chinese companies should get to know the Brazilian institutional structure and how the regulators work.
