Mainland firms will work with Angolan companies to farm, process and market sugarcane in the province of Bengo, Angop reports.

The Angolan news agency quotes Manuel Arnaldo Calado, president of the Angola-China Chamber of Commerce, as saying the project would create jobs and boost the province’s economy.

Mr Calado made the comments after meeting the governor of Bengo, João Bernardo de Miranda.

About 20,000 hectares of land has been set aside for the project, which does not yet have a commencement date.

A delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs will soon be invited to visit the province, the report says.
