China may be prepared to cancel some of the loans out has made to Mozambique, according to the newspaper Notícias.
The mainland’s ambassador to the African nation, Su Jian, met this week with Mozambique Prime Minister Carlos Agostinho do Rosário to discuss the matter.
The Chinese diplomat was quoted as saying since 2001, the mainland has already forgone 10 tranches of loans without interest. Additional debt may be forgiven in the future, the newspaper says.
