The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) will this week hold a seminar in Macao and a field trip in Mainland China regarding inspection, quarantine and customs procedures for food imports to Mainland China. The activities are aimed at business people involved in the export of food products from Portuguese-speaking Countries into Mainland China.

The learning initiative is being promoted by the newly launched Interdepartmental Working Group of the Macao-based Distribution Centre of Food Products from Portuguese-speaking Countries, said IPIM in a press release.

The seminar will be held in Macao on September 1. Several representatives from relevant public departments in Mainland China will share their knowledge with participants, including information on the Central Government’s support for the development of Macao as a platform for service and trade co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

The field trip to Mainland China on September 2 will include visits to, respectively, the Hengqin Island New Area, a special economic zone in Zhuhai Prefecture; and the special economic zone of Nansha District in Guangzhou city. The aim is to provide an opportunity for Macao’s business people to see first hand the facilities and procedures related to the import of food products from Portuguese-speaking Countries to Mainland China, IPIM added.
