The Brazilian arm of Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group Co. Ltd (XCMG) of China has deployed over 100 XCMG construction machines to help efforts to rescue people from calamitous floods in the Brazilian states of Minas Gerais and Bahia, the People’s Daily says.
The state governments asked XCMG Brazil to send construction plant urgently to rescue people trapped in buildings that collapsed in the flooding last week, the Chinese Communist Party newspaper reported last Saturday.
The report says that since January 17 XCMG Brazil had been sending construction vehicles or other machines every day at a rate of over 20 a day.
When the first machines arrived, the government of Bahia commended XCMG Brazil for its contribution to the rescue effort, the People’s Daily says.
