The parliamentary leaders of China and Mozambique met on Sunday to promote bilateral ties, Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua reported.
Zhang Deijiang, chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress met parliamentary leaders of Mozambique, Egypt and South Africa respectively on the sidelines of the Inter-Parliamentary Union held in Lusaka, capital of Zambia.
Mr Zhang was quoted saying in the meetings the legislatures in the countries “should fully play their roles in promoting the implementation” of the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation summit held in December.
At the summit, the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, pledged to provide a US$60-billion fund for the development of Africa.
