Angola’s National Defence Minister, João Lourenço, and Chinese counterpart Chang Wanquan this week pledged to continue the existing strategic co-operation on defence between the two countries, Angolan newspaper Jornal de Angola reported.

Mr Lourenço met Mr Chang in Beijing, during a visit to enhance bilateral ties. This was his second official trip to China over the past six months.

According to a statement by Angola’s Embassy in China – quoted by the newspaper –, during the meeting, the two ministers analysed the current state of co-operation between the two nations. They pledged to continue deepening co-operation, to promote mutual benefits.

During his previous visit to China – in September – Mr Lourenço met with Chinese officials and toured several defence-related factories and educational institutions in Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai.
