Portugal’s Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT, in the Portuguese acronym) and China’s Ministry of Science and Technology are calling for joint research proposals from Portuguese and Chinese experts.
The proposals should be in the fields of science and technology and be for the 2016-2018 period, FCT announced.
Such joint work is envisaged under the Sino-Portuguese Agreement for Cooperation in Science and Technology, established in 1993.
“The Sino-Portuguese Programme of Cooperation in Science and Technology facilitates bilateral co-operation between researchers of the two countries by way of exploratory visits, joint R&D [research and development] projects, and seminars/workshops,” FCT stated.
The call for projects – which will be supported by “funding for mobility of researchers” – is open to scientists, engineers and institutions “involved in advanced research”.
Eligible areas of scientific research include biotechnology, nanotechnology, health sciences, agricultural sciences, chemistry, engineering, computing sciences and “energy, ecology and environment”, FCT added.
According to the Portuguese foundation, applications for funding for the 2016-2018 period should be sent before February 29.
