The China joint venture of a Portuguese architect’s practice has designed a luxury hotel for China’s Dalian Wanda Group, Portuguese news agency Lusa reported this week.

Architect Helder Santos manages OAD, Office for Architecture + Design, together with a Chinese partner, from its headquarters in Beijing. The company was in charge of designing the Wanda Vista Xishuangbanna five-star resort in Yunnan province.

“We are now linked to a company that is responsible for great projects; and we were capable of meeting their standards; which is not easy,” Mr Santos said, as quoted by Lusa.

Chinese businessman Wang Jianlin, who according to Forbes’ China Rich List 2015 is China’s wealthiest man with a net worth equal to US$30 billion, is chairman of Dalian Wanda Group.

Mr Santos noted: “It is a company with vision. It envisions its business for a global age.”
