The Government of Angola has launched a restricted tender inviting Chinese companies to build seven economic development zones in the country, Angolan newspaper Jornal de Angola reported on Sunday.
The seven projects come under the Framework Agreement on Financial Co-operation signed between Angola and China. The agreement enables the financing of Angola’s priority public investment projects through credit lines provided by China, the newspaper said.
According to the report, the restricted tender is open until January 8. Applicants must be Chinese companies included on a list previously issued by China’s Government. Those firms would have to subcontract Angolan companies to fulfil the projects.
Jornal de Angola added that industrial development sites built in the country since 2002 have generated more than 12,500 jobs in the African nation so far.
