A fully loaded cargo ship bound for Porto dos Santos, Brazil's largest port, departed the Port of Guangzhou, China on the 4th of September, marking the launch of the first regular direct shipping route from the port to Brazil. This is the fifth maritime route to a BRICS country that the Port of Guangzhou has opened this year.

The ship was loaded with 592 20-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of goods, including passenger vehicles, construction machinery and electrical equipment, bound for Porto dos Santos, Brazil's largest port.

At least eight multipurpose ships will be deployed on the route, operating once every two weeks initially to ensure stability and provide direct transport services for imports and exports, said the route operator, COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers Co., Ltd.
