On the 20th of March, ExxonMobil said that the consortium of oil companies in Area 4 gas exploration in northern Mozambique wants to resume the project of liquefaction plant in Cabo Delgado, a project announced in 2018 but whose investment has been delayed.

The consortium has published an announcement in Mozambique’s main daily newspaper, calling for proposals for engineering services for construction of a liquefaction plant in Afungi.

According to the announcement, the Area 4 partners remain committed to working with the Mozambican government to develop the resources of the Rovuma basin, preparing to resume activities as soon as safety conditions allow.

Area 4 is operated by Mozambique Rovuma Venture (MRV), a joint venture co-owned by ExxonMobil, Eni and CNPC (China), which holds a 70% participating interest in the concession contract.
