A delegation of Cape Verdean officials and business representatives will visit China this week aiming to attract Chinese investments in the archipelago, local newspaper A Semana reported.
The delegation, headed by the Minister of Tourism, Investments and Business Development Leonesa Fortes, will visit China starting from today until Friday.
“We will present new projects to China,” she told A Semana, adding the mission hopes to secure financing from some Chinese state-run funds for major new projects in the archipelago.
“The Government also wants to attract investments from Chinese businesses, enhancing the co-operation between the two countries through the private sector,” she noted. The Chinese firms could explore sectors including airlines, renewable energy, information technology, shipyards and marine transport, she added.
During the visit the delegation will also attend the second meeting of the Joint Commission for Economic, Technical and Commercial Cooperation between China and Cape Verde to review the progress of collaboration since the first meeting in 2009.
