Shanghai will hold a “Portugal Week” later this year to promote Portuguese products in China, said Portuguese Secretary of State for Food and Agri-food Research, Nuno Vieira e Brito.
He made the remarks to Portuguese news agency Lusa on Thursday after meeting with officials of the Shanghai administration during a weeklong trip in China.
“The idea of organising a Portugal-themed week in Shanghai… this year has been well received by the Shanghai Government,” he said.
The Chinese market “welcomes” Portuguese products and services in the agri-food, tourism and culture sectors, Mr Vieira e Brito added.
During the meeting, Portugal’s Government and Shanghai officials signed a co-operation agreement on food safety and aquaculture, Lusa reported.
Mr Brito will also visit Macau, before ending his visit to China in Beijing. He is the second Portuguese official visiting China this month, after Portugal’s Secretary of State for Economy, Leonardo Mathias.
